Energy Impact Partners (EIP) is a global investment platform leading the transition to a sustainable energy future. EIP brings together forward-thinking utilities and energy companies with innovative entrepreneurs to invest in and scale the technologies shaping tomorrow’s energy landscape.
EIP's core values are grounded in collaboration, innovation, and measurable impact. The firm believes that the path to a sustainable future requires deep partnerships across the energy value chain and actively unites industry leaders with entrepreneurs to pilot, validate, and deploy climate solutions at scale. EIP is committed to supporting companies whose technologies not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also create real-world benefits, such as improved grid reliability, increased energy efficiency, and cost savings for customers.
EIP fosters a culture of integrity, accountability, and inclusion. The team is driven by a commitment to transparency and rigorous impact measurement, ensuring that every investment is evaluated for its environmental, social, and financial outcomes. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to EIP’s approach, with the firm striving to support underrepresented founders and build diverse teams both within its portfolio and its own organisation. Governance is a foundational value, with robust structures in place to uphold the highest standards of ethical, legal, and sustainable business practices throughout all operations and partnerships.
These values are reflected in EIP’s annual impact reporting, active engagement with its global partner network, and its ongoing efforts to accelerate the adoption of transformative technologies for a cleaner, more resilient energy system.
Energy Impact Partners (EIP) was founded in 2015 by Hans Kobler, a seasoned investor and entrepreneur with a strong track record in energy and technology. Prior to founding EIP, Kobler served as CEO of Digital Power Capital, a private equity fund focused on advanced power technologies, and led GE Capital's energy technology practice. Earlier in his career, he worked as a management consultant at Bain & Company. Kobler’s vision for EIP was to create a collaborative investment platform that would unite major utilities, industrials, and technology leaders to accelerate the development and deployment of solutions for a decarbonised energy future. He recognised that the energy transition would require not just capital, but also deep industry partnerships and shared expertise to bring new technologies to market at scale.
Joining Kobler as co-founders were Lindsay Luger and Joshua Feldman. Luger, now Partner at EIP, has spent over 20 years investing in technology companies with a focus on energy, power, and sustainability. Before EIP, she invested in dozens of venture capital and growth equity transactions at Digital Power Capital and Wexford Capital, and held operational roles at portfolio companies. Feldman, now Partner, General Counsel, and Chief Operating Officer, has years of experience as a corporate transactional and regulatory attorney, previously serving as General Counsel for Cedrus Park Management and King Street Capital Management.
The founding team’s collective expertise in investment, technology, legal, and operational leadership laid the groundwork for EIP’s unique collaborative model. Today, EIP is a global investment platform with a comprehensive team of investors, researchers, and operators, all dedicated to delivering results for portfolio companies, partners, and investors.
