About Spin Ventures

Spin Ventures is a London-based venture capital firm founded in 2012, dedicated to accelerating the transition from a linear to a circular economy in the consumer and retail sectors. The firm focuses on early-stage, B2B climate-tech startups that enable circular supply chains, regenerative materials, re-commerce and other business models that drive resource efficiency, revenue growth and decarbonisation.

Mission, Goals & Values

Mission
Spin Ventures’ mission is to back the companies that redefine consumption and supply-chains by enabling circularity, resource-efficiency and regenerative business models - in effect, helping shift entire industries from “take-make-dispose” to reuse, regenerative and circular systems.

Goals

  • Invest in pre-seed to Series A ventures that deliver measurable impact, operational efficiency gains and commercial returns.
  • Partner with corporates, startups and investors via its proprietary platform “The House of Circularity” to pilot, validate and scale circular-economy solutions.
  • Drive the metricable decarbonisation of supply and value chains within consumer/retail sectors, while generating strong financial returns for founders and investors alike.

Values
Spin Ventures emphasises tangible, measurable solutions over incremental tweaks, values strategic collaboration across startups and corporates, and insists that sustainability and profitability go hand-in-hand.

Founders & Origin Story

Spin Ventures was founded in 2012 by Nic Gorini (Managing Partner). The inspiration for Spin originated from Gorini’s early experience creating up-cycled products and his belief that true circular economy models required more than recycling - they required systemic change in supply chains and business models. Over time, the firm evolved from its origin in up-cycling and materials innovation into a full venture platform with investment, acceleration and corporate engagement capabilities, anchored in London but with a pan-European focus.

Investment Focus

Geographic Scope
Though headquartered in London, Spin Ventures invests across Europe, primarily targeting early-stage B2B climate-tech ventures in the consumer, retail and materials sectors.

Sectors of Interest

  • Circular supply chains & re-commerce models (reuse, refurbish, resale).
  • Regenerative and recycled materials (bio-based, circular materials).
  • Data, AI and manufacturing innovations enabling circular business models.
  • Corporate-startup partnerships and supply-chain transformation.

Investment Criteria
Spin looks for companies that:

  • Are at the pre-Seed to Series A stage with high growth potential.
  • Offer measurable impact in decarbonisation, waste reduction or resource efficiency.
  • Can participate in its “House of Circularity” ecosystem of pilots, partnerships and scale-up.
  • Deliver strong commercial viability - profitable growth, not just mission statements.

Assessment

Spin Ventures uses a dual track approach: capital investment plus structured growth acceleration. Via “The House of Circularity” platform, they bring startups into collaboration with corporates, pilots and validations - de-risking early-stage circular innovations and helping scale them. Their assessment includes not only founder/team strength and business-model fit, but also the ability to deliver measurable operational efficiency gains, revenue uplift and decarbonisation within consumer/retail supply chains.

Notable Portfolio & Impact

As of the latest data, Spin Ventures has made approximately 17 early-stage investments, and focuses on European B2B climate-tech firms in the consumer/retail domain. Their portfolio exemplifies companies that combine circular business models (e.g., re-commerce, refurbish/resale) with measurable environmental impact - such as reduction of waste, use of recycled materials, redesigning supply chains for circularity.

Spin Ventures measures success not only through financial returns, but through real-world metrics: operational efficiency gains, supply-chain decarbonisation and circularity in business models. Its focus on measurable, scalable outcomes ties profit and sustainability together in its investment thesis.

Funding Sources

Spin Ventures raised its initial capital and now is preparing for its first formal fund-vehicle (Loop II) targeting somewhere between €25 m–€50 m to deploy into circular economy start-ups in Europe. The model positions limited partners who share an interest in both financial return and supply-chain decarbonisation.
